During their PhD study BioStruct Fellows are obliged to practice communication and presentation skills on several occasions:

  • Progress reports on a regular basis for their academic advisors and members of the hosting research group.
  • Project presentations at the yearly progress meeting of the NRW Research School BioStruct, reviewed by external referees.
  • Attendance to a minimum of two international scientific conferences where fellows will actively communicate and discuss their project data either by oral or by poster presentation (preparation support is offered by BioStruct).
  • A project presentation at the university’s ‘open house day’ and/or at the university’s ‘young researchers day’, i.e. communicating science to a non-academic resp. an diverse academic audience from all faculties of the university.
